Sibling Distillery, the Charlton Kings gin maker, has called its creditors to a 6 October meeting, the formal step towards liquidation. What the notice says.
Sibling Distillery, the Cheltenham gin maker started by four brothers and sisters, has called its creditors to a meeting on 6 October 2026. It is the formal step a company takes when it is being placed into a creditors’ voluntary liquidation, the winding-up route used when a business cannot pay its debts in full.
The notice was published in The London Gazette on 22 September under the heading “Meetings of Creditors”. It was signed by one of the company’s directors.

- Registered office: 93 London Road, Cheltenham, GL52 6HL

No liquidator has been appointed yet. The notice does not give the size of the company’s debts or say why it is closing. We will report the appointment and the statement of affairs when they are filed.
Twelve years of Sibling Gin
Sibling Gin went on sale in June 2014. The company says it was set up by two brothers and two sisters who grew up helping in their parents’ microbrewery. It distilled its own base spirit rather than flavouring a bought-in one, which the family describes as its founding principle. (Sibling Distillery, About us)
The same page says the gin won three stars at the Great Taste Awards and was named Cotswolds Local Food and Drink Supplier of the Year. In late 2019 the distillery moved to a purpose-built site on Coxhorne Farm, on the London Road at Charlton Kings, and brought the family brewery with it.
The company was incorporated on 5 November 2013. Companies House still listed it as active on 29 September.
What the last accounts show
The most recent accounts on file cover the year to 31 January 2025. They were filed on 21 October 2025. They show a business that had gone from a small positive balance to owing more than it held.
| At 31 January | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | £42,325 | nil |
| Equipment (tangible assets) | £8,528 | nil |
| Owed to the company | £69,371 | £11,348 |
| Cash at bank | £132 | £69,434 |
| Owed within a year | £97,960 | £88,449 |
| Owed after more than a year | £22,321 | £2,321 |
| Net assets (liabilities) | £75 | (£9,988) |
The average number of staff, including directors, fell from six to five. The accounts do not explain why stock and equipment no longer appear on the balance sheet, and we are not guessing. Accounts for the year to January 2026 are due by 31 October 2026.
Is the shop still open?
The company’s website was still selling gin, gift sets and vouchers when we checked on 29 September. It carried no statement about the notice. Its news page was last updated in 2023.
What it means for you
- If Sibling Distillery owes you money, you are a creditor. Send a proof of debt to Durkan Cahill before 4pm on Monday 5 October to vote at the meeting. The firm’s contact details are in the Gazette notice.
- If you hold a gift voucher or a booked tour, you may become an unsecured creditor once a liquidator is appointed. Keep your receipt or confirmation email. If you paid by card, your card provider may be able to help under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act (purchases over £100 on a credit card) or through chargeback.
- Think twice before placing a new order until the position is clear. A liquidator decides what happens to stock and to orders that have not been fulfilled.
